by Matt Clarmont
Smackdown
at the Shrine will return on April 29th to the Shrine Exhibition
Hall and once again both Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts will be on
display for a hybrid night of combat sports. Ring announcer Tom
Looney announced the show at their most recent event March 4th. “Mr.
Unbreakable” Brian Warren (11-14-1) of Unbreakable Gym in San
Bernardino and UFC veteran Roman Mitichyan (6-3) were said to face
off as the main event that night.
Brian Warren is a fighter, manager, and trainer hailing from the
eastern Inland Empire in California. He has been a frequent face in
the local MMA scene since 1999 and is also a Strikeforce veteran,
falling victim to an onslaught of punches from Cung Le in the
Hollywood star’s second professional fight. Warren is coming off of
a loss to former “The Ultimate Fighter Season 10” assistant coach
Tiki Ghosn.
Roman Mitichyan is an Armenian-American fighter hailing from Los
Angeles. His brief stint in the UFC included a win over Dorian Price
in the Ultimate Fighter Season 6 Finale before falling victim to
George Sotiropolous at UFN13. He last competed at Called Out MMA 1
where he earned a unanimous decision over Mike Dolce.
Both men are veterans of the Ontario, California event “Call to
Arms” which was co-promoted by local promotion Called Out MMA last
May. Other participants announced to compete in the boxing portion
of the show were an Irish Boxing Champion and an American amateur
who will make his debut at the show.
