MMA-KO Get's an
Exclusive Interview with KOTC fighter Jon "The Man Of Faith"
Murphy
MMA-KO corresponded with KOTC
fighter Jon "The Man Of Faith" Murphy and got some insight on what
is driving this fighter to greatness. On March 26th, 2010
Mark Burnett presents KOTC Legacy at the Silver Legacy in Reno,NV.
These fights will be broadcast on HDnet live. Be sure to catch this
fight on the card because it is sure to be a good one, and you have
no excuse. Jon has had a bumpy road that you can read about on his
website and you can sense in this interview why Jon has returned to
form and is paving a new path of dominance throughout the KOTC
rankings.
MMA-KO:
First off thank you for taking the time for this interview. It is
truly an honor.
JM: Honor’s all mine. Thanks for the
opportunity.
MMA-KO: How is your training coming
along?
JM: Training is going great! I found a
new home at Barbarian Combat Sports in Sunbury, PA. I’ve got a great
trainer and friend in Tim Boetsch who is owner/head trainer of the
gym. Tim’s not only a great fighter, but I also believe he’ll
establish himself as one of the top tier trainers in the sport of
MMA in years to come.
MMA-KO: This is a huge event for the
Reno area. What are you expecting from the Reno crowd?
JM: It’ll be the first time in Reno for
me; so truthfully, I don’t really know what to expect. I’m hoping
for a great turnout and all-around great event. KOTC has big things
on the horizon and I’m just grateful to be part of it.
MMA-KO: Your opponent Mike Kyle is
tabbed as a heavy hitter. Right before the bell rings, what is going
through your mind?
JM: Truthfully, do what I’m trained to
do and be relentless. I’ve faced two of the heaviest hitters in the
game in Houston Alexander and Brett Rogers with whom I didn’t fair
too well. Problem was I was worried more about not getting hit than
implementing MY offense and skill.
MMA-KO: How do you see this fight
going?
JM: I’ve been training to finish the
fight and I don’t see it going the distance.
MMA-KO: If you could fight anyone in
the sport today who would that be?
JM: Is it cliché to say Fedor? Haha.
I’d love to get in there with him and to see firsthand how good he
is. I greatly respect him and see him as the best in the world and
it would be an honor.
MMA-KO: You have cut off your hair for
Locks of Love, you have lost your way and found your faith again.
What is next for Jon “Man of Faith” Murphy?
JM: Whatever it is God lays in front of
me. I pray daily for awareness and understanding of His will for me.
Truthfully, I see fighting as the tip of the iceberg. It’s afforded
me many blessings and opportunities and given me a platform to reach
out to people. The purpose of my life is to carry the message of
hope and redemption through Jesus Christ. I know what He’s done in
my life and want anyone who is looking for a better life or
perspective to know that it’s available to all who want it.
MMA-KO: Is there anyone you would like
to thank?
JM: First and foremost, my Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ. Without His hand in my life, I’d still be
walking the wayward path of self-destruction. My Mom and Dad for
ALWAYS, ALWAYS being there and sticking by me. I love you both more
than you know. My fiancé Jen for her love and support and being my
best friend. Tim (Boetsch) for being a great trainer, training
partner, and most importantly, a great friend. All the guys at
Barbarian Combat Sports for pushing me every day,
and my sponsors Policy Collection, MOS Creative, AdapTx Labs, Full
Tilt Poker,
and Toe2Toe Fight Wear.
MMA-KO: How will your new fans follow
Jon “Man of Faith” Murphy?
JM: Thanks to MOS Creative (http://www.moscreative.com/)
for designing my
website which is http://www.jonmurphymma.com.
MMA-KO:
On behalf of all the MMA-KO staff we would like to
thank you for your time and we look forward to watching your fight
on March 26th, 2010 at the Silver Legacy in Reno, NV.
JM: Thank you guys. See you guys soon.
God Bless…
